We did get somewhat of a cool front, but not enough to pull out the gumbo pot. Maybe we could fake it by pushing the as to 65.
The dining room is all set (see previous post), so I decided to add just a touch of fall to the kitchen. The kitchen is a super busy area in our house, so I utilized the stove hood shelf.
I originally planned on this little "WELCOME" sign to reside by the side entry door, but thought it would be cute up on the stove hood.
I added orange to the vases that I already had up there. The orange ties in with the dining room table.
Isn't this little pumpkin the cutest ? I wanted to add some natural element, but did not want to use pinecones.
Hope you enjoyed seeing my little fall touches ... now if the temps would match the calendar so we could get that gumbo going.

Its Much More Than A 2017 Fall Tablescape - Its the Memories
Fall - my favorite time of the year.
Fall for our family means lots of birthday celebrations, football, and holiday dinners. I get asked, why would you want to do ALL that - I do that because it brings back sweet memories of times gone by. Lord knows in this crazy world, isn't it nice to sit down with family/friends and forget if only for a moment what is going on around us ? Not only are we making new memories around the table, I have cherished memories from where the items on the table were collected from. This year, I set the table with a setting that will get me thru all the festivities. I picked up the blue willow dishes from a Vintage Market Fair while visiting my mom in Arkansas this past spring.
The stemware was passed down to me from my mawmaw. Sweet memories of when she would pull these out for Christmas and let us sip a drop of wine mixed with lots of ginger ale.
Deer horns - added for the guys having to set at a fuffy table - those were given to be by a friend that has a ranch in Texas. Pine cones were picked up on walks around the woods in Mississippi.
The little boxes were from an old sewing machine that was handed down from my husbands great great aunt.
Here is to making many sweet memories at this table for fall 2017 ~

Can't Part With That Favorite Armorie ?
Do you have a piece of furniture that has been passed down, you worked very hard to pay for it, or that piece that no one will give you what you think it is worth ? You get the picture
My armoire is that piece of furniture ....
It was a Bernhart that I went all the way to New Orleans 20 yrs ago to pick up. It lived in my bedroom with the matching bed for years & years ... thank goodness it couldn't talk... it witnessed many laughs and tears.
When we built the new house I really did not give much thought as to where it would go. It was really too big for the guest room.
When I first saw this piece ... it was the pull knobs that I could not live without !
Turns out in the new house this wall was perfect for it --- It fit and actually looks great there.
For our first dinner party, Brett went to get makings for some adult beverages. He had them all over the kitchen bar.
After a little thought we decided to use the armoire as a bar area. It worked out perfect. Its all nicely tucked behind closed doors. The drawers in the bottom are perfect storage for the placemats for the dining room table.
Can't remember were I got these little drink stirrers, but aren't they just the cutest ?
Hope you enjoyed seeing a how I repurposed my piece of furniture without actually changing it.

Quick & Easy Pepper Jelly Spread
Father's day is upon us and are you needing a quick and easy spread for crackers ?
This one is sooo easy, I often forget about it.
All you need is a jar of Tabasco Pepper Jelly, a block of softened
cream cheese and of course crackers.
- Pour the pepper jelly over the cream cheese arrange the crackers.
- Arrange the crackers around the platter.
I found the pepper jelly in the jelly section at one store, but you may have to ask at your store.
Ta Da .... That is it and everyone loves it !
Hope everyone has a great Father's Day
