Fall In The Foyer

Slowly, but surely fall will arrive at my home
here in the south.
I started out with my lamps on my foyer table.
( My foyer table is actually an antique buffet.)

I taped three little leaves on the shades
 and
 then added some twine.

This past weekend we went hiking and I picked up a few acorns that I tucked in around my pumpkins and leaves.

Added a scarecrow and a new/old stain glass window.
(The stain glass is from Susie, she was getting rid of it so I saved it to use in a project thats in progress)

The gold tones in the stain glass reflecting
off the mirror in back is beautiful.
Using fall decor verus halloween...saves me lots of time,
I leave the fall decor until Thanksgiving.

This was the look in the foyer last year.
I was  never really happy with it,
I just could not get the look I was trying to achieve.
I really prefer this years look over last...What do you think?
Do you use Fall instead of Halloween ? or both?

Today I am linking to a great party hosted by

  1. Your front hall looks wonderful this year! I do both. I start with Fall decorations in September and then add just a few little things for Halloween (which is what my blog is about tomorrow actually)..then I remove the Halloween stuff for the rest of Fall-through Thanksgiving. xo Diana

  4. Hi Melissa! This looks great! Love the leaves on the lamp shades!! That was a great idea...and adding the twine was a nice touch! Love the little acorns mixed in with the fall leaves and accents. This is a really pretty vignette! Can't wait to see what you do with the stained glass! (You're a tease...LOL!!)

  5. I think the stained glass addition was perfect! Such a "you" in the traditional fall decor! At my house, we decorate for fall. We do paint pumpkins but since we don't celebrate halloween the pumpkins area painted when we have time and they stay up until they begin to rot or until the day after Thanksgiving, which ever comes first.

  6. The leaves on the lampshades - what a great idea! I may have to borrow it sometime. I'm with you - I decorate for fall, not Halloween. Dark, spooky, evil & scary don't sit with me very well. I stick with the warm, cozy, comfy feelings of fall instead.
