Wine Stopper DIY
These are so fun and easy to make.
You will need corks...new or used.
Oh, SWEET ... look there is a cork from the bottle we had at the Baltimore on vacation years ago...
You will need small knobs
I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby, they were 50% off.
Please its ok ... I'm not embarrassed to say I screwed up!
Learn from my mistakes...
(See photo below)
You will need a drill to put the hole in the cork.
I tried an ice pick...did not work.
The bit size that worked best for me was 3/16
Because I had a basket of corks, I dug and found the ones that were longer than the screw on the knob.
Drill a hole in your cork...try to keep it straight and watch not to go to far. You do not want to drill into the counter top.
On second thought you may want to place it on a cutting board while drilling. Better safe than very sorry.
Take the nut and washer off.
(See photo below)
Screw the knob into the cork...
Finish by adding ribbons and little charms.
How cute and easy was that?
I think a little crystal bowl filled with these would be so pretty.

I love this project! I have a wine stopper that has a vintage knob on it. I've wanted to try to make something similar but in my head I made it out to be so much more complicated. Thanks for the tutorial!!!
What a wonderful idea!! Thank you (^^,)

Hi Melissa! :) Your comment on my anniversary post was so sweet! I hope TJ and I will eventually get a real honeymoon too, but even if we don't, I'm the happiest girl in the whole world just being married to him. :) I'm so blessed.
Oh...and I get tickled too when I think about having to "pretend" to drink the grape juice. We were laughing while we were doing it...it was hard not to get tickled when it was such a serious thing! lol :)
Love ya girlie!
Missy

These are so cute!! They would be great to include with a bottle of wine, as a hostess gift!! Target sells corks by the box full. I could make quite a few of these! Thanks for sharing!!

These are so pretty, Melissa! Thanks for the tips on making one!
Adorable...I really gotta get one of these!!
I love this idea! I just bought some of those knobs at Hobby Lobby and blogged about it today. I may try that out with the ones that look like a clock face. I just bought one to add to a drawer front and kept thinking I'd love to use more but didn't know where or how. Now, you have me thinking! Thanks for the great tutorial too.
Thank you so much for linking up to my very 1st link party! 4 Real Friday #2 is live, and I would love for you to link up something new!

I love the knobs on the wine corks. We have a winery about 15 miles away and I am going to Hobby Lobby tomorrow. I just joined your blog and hope you will join my new blog to read all about farm life, decorating, cooking, animals, projects, and lots more. Hope to see you there!
